Resolve Problems on Your Wireless NetworkSTEP1 : Place the Wireless Computer and Wireless Router Near Each Other Additional Information Place the wireless computer and wireless router in clear line of sight and within 10 to 20 feet from each other. The computer or wireless router may have to be moved. Connection loss can be caused by the distance between the system and the wireless router. Other devices running on the 2.4 GHz band, such as cordless phones and baby monitors, can cause interference and connection loss. Do not place the wireless router under cabinet or a desk. This will degrade the wireless router's signal to your computer possibly causing connection loss or a slow connection to the Internet, and can also reduce the broadcast range of the wireless router. Devices that you can turn off that may be causing interference include, but are not limited to the following: Cellular phones Wireless game controllers Wireless cameras Wireless baby monitors Microwave ovens Wireless speakers Elevator motors Medical MRI imaging devices Air treatment static precipitators (filters) Welding equipment Power lines Electric railroad\tram tracks Power stations Fluorescent light ballasts Additional Information Disconnect the power from the broadband modem and leave the broadband modem disconnected for at least 3 minutes. Shut down all the computers that are connected to the network. Disconnect the power from the wireless router. Verify that a network cable is connected from the Broadband Modem into the Internet or WAN port on the wireless router. Verify that no USB cables or serial cables are connected to the Broadband Modem. Connect the power to the broadband modem. Wait for at least 2 minutes for the Broadband Modem to initialize. If the Modem does not establish an Internet connection successfully, unplug the Modem. Wait for at least 5 minutes, then plug in the Modem. Connect the power to the wireless router. Wait for at least 2 minutes for the wireless router to initialize. Turn on the computer and try connecting to the Internet. |
